The Targeted Agricultural Modernisation Scheme (TAMS 3) is designed to support farmers in adopting renewable energy solutions that reduce energy costs and lower their carbon footprint. The scheme is jointly funded by the Irish Government and the European Union under the Rural Development Plan 2014–2022 and the CAP Strategic Plan 2023–2027. Farmers can avail of grant aid of up to 60%, with a maximum investment ceiling of €90,000 per holding. The minimum eligible investment under the scheme is €2,000.

For systems requiring a medium-scale connection (e.g., NC7 or NC8, we take responsibility for the entire ESB Networks application, providing full assistance and submission free of cost.

TAMS solar PV grant eligibility?
- Registered farmer: You must be registered with DAFM and hold a herd number or valid department identifier.
- Land eligibility: Minimum of 5 hectares under BPS/BISS (or 20 production unit for intensive farms).
- On-farm use: Solar PV must supply farm electricity need (Farm building or dwelling). Export is secondary.
- Project value: Minimum eligibility spend is approx. €2,000 (varies by tranche).
- Approved contractors: System must meet DAFM standards and be installed by approved providers.
- Farm Safety Training: Applicants must complete a Farm Safety Code of Practice or FETAC Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Agriculture within the last 5 years.

Yes, but batteries are funded at a maximum of 50% of the solar panel output. TAMS Grant conditions state that; 100% of electricity generated must be consumed on the farm holding.
